Raul Zamora named as Chair of Statewide Texas Healthcare Trustees Board
Texas Healthcare Trustees (THT), the premier statewide association representing the governing boards of Texas hospitals and health systems, is proud to announce the appointment of Raul Zamora as the 2024 Chair of the Board of Directors.
Zamora, a native of Uvalde, Texas, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to health care governance to his new role. Born and raised in the small rural community west of San Antonio, he earned his MBA degree from Sul Ross State University in 1984. Zamora had a distinguished banking career spanning 32 years, retiring in 2010. Currently, he is a realtor in Uvalde, contributing his expertise to the local community.
Zamora’s dedication to community service and leadership is evident through his involvement in numerous civic organizations and boards throughout his career. In December 1980, he was appointed to the Uvalde Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, a position he continues to hold, demonstrating his enduring commitment to improving the health of his community.
“Raul is incredibly dedicated to helping others and is truly invested in ensuring all trustees are prepared to lead and take action in this rapidly evolving health care environment,” said Amy Eskew, president/CEO of THT. “We are incredibly fortunate to have him at the helm at this time while so many rural hospitals continue to face a multitude of challenges in ensuring access to high quality care for their communities.”
Joining the THT board in 2018, Zamora has played an integral role in various committees, including executive, governance, finance, awards, and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). His diverse experience and strategic insights have made him an invaluable asset to the organization.
As Chair of the Board, Zamora will lead THT in its commitment to providing education, resources, and leadership development for its members, helping them navigate the dynamic landscape of health care.
