OLUWASEUN G. ADEOLA, MD, MPH

Bio

Oluwaseun Adeola, MD, MPH is a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist with Methodist Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.

Becoming a physician seemed to be Dr. Adeola's destiny. As a child, he had medical problems and was frequently in hospitals. He saw doctors as people who "saved the day" and were in the best position to help people. The field of cardiology interested him because both of his parents had heart disease and he constantly wanted to learn more to help them or others in similar situations.

Dr. Adeola received his MD from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He then worked as a Public Health Officer throughout Nigeria, where he saw that not everyone could afford nor access health care. Dr. Adeola worked to improve this access and developed a protocol to track health care provided to indigent patients, leading to improved health care access among these patients. His experiences led to his desire to receive his Master of Public Health, which he obtained from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Adeola completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Missouri Hospitals and Harry S Truman Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He moved to Iowa City, Iowa for his Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at University of Iowa Hospital and Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Dr. Adeola then completed his Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Electrophysiology provides Dr. Adeola the opportunity to combine his intellectual knowledge and ability to physically perform procedures. He believes it allows him to reach people in need and make more of a difference in their health.
