Capt Family Donates $75,000 for Legacy Courtyard Wall and Fountain
Uvalde Memorial Hospital (UMH) received a $75,000 gift from the Capt Family of Uvalde for the Legacy Courtyard Wall and Fountain. The courtyard wall and fountain will provide a barrier between the hospital entrance and courtyard outside of the Emergency Department. The wall will have a water feature and be the location for all historical donor plaques from the 1949 and 1972 hospital.
The donation will be designated to the $5.2-million Better Health Begins Here capital campaign for equipment, technology and art for the new hospital slated for completion in early 2022.
“I wish to extend our appreciation to the Capt family for making this Legacy Courtyard possible,” said Sheri Rutledge, UMH development specialist. “UMH values all of our past donors and this wall will be a permanent tribute to those that have supported our mission through the decades.”
“Five generations of the Capt family have been privileged to call Uvalde home,” according to Carper Capt. “Our community is blessed in so many ways and not the least of which has been the generosity and selfless dedication exhibited over the years by all those who have contributed to the betterment of our healthcare system; many of whom are recognized by name on this Legacy Courtyard Fountain Wall. It is truly an honor for the Capt family to have this opportunity to continue that tradition by lending our support to bring about the completion of this new Uvalde Memorial Hospital facility.”
Uvalde Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) community hospital and donations to the Better Health Begins Here campaign are tax deductible. For more information contact Sheri Rutledge, development specialist, at 830-278-6251 ext. 1616. Donations may be mailed to UMH, 1025 Garner Field Road, Uvalde, Texas 78801.
